Luise was the first woman elected to the Forest City School Board, serving from 1963 to 1966, and was named to the Forest City Education Hall of Fame in 1987. She served as a Waldorf College Board of Regent from 1981 to 1999, where she chaired the Advancement Committee and was a member of the Executive Committee. In recognition of her service, Waldorf College conferred on her the degree of Doctor of Humane Letters in 1995.
